About the Author
Joy Harns Kent owns Beauty Fashioned Simply and Wearing Your Greatness. She helps women
wear their greatness by teaching them how to determine which design lines and colors enhance their
bodies.
When wearing clothes that enhance their bodies, they can tap into their confidence and personal
power. As a result, women can go into the world to pursue their passions, create positive impact,
and make this world a better place to live.
Joy loves clothes and has learned along the way that clothes change how she feels about herself.
At the age of 10, Joy’s mom taught her how to sew and it became her passion. As she became
older, Joy kept sewing because she had a hard time finding
clothes that fit her body.
Joy has both an Account and Apparel Design Bachelor of
Science Degrees along with an MBA in running small/medium
businesses. She was an accountant for 17 years and stopped
doing it after her first husband passed away and had to raise her
almost three-year-old son by herself.
When Joy was an accountant, she saw a lot of smart women
not getting their ideas heard and not getting promoted. Joy also
saw when a woman wears the right clothes for her, she taps into
her confidence and personal power. When she taps into her
confidence and personal power, she is able to go into the world
to get her ideas heard and make the world a better place.
While healing from losing her husband, Joy decided her next
life will be sewing clothes for women who have a hard time finding clothes that fit as she did. This
is when she went back to school to get her degree in apparel design.
Joy has spent over 30 years studying women’s bodies to determine what design lines and colors
enhance different shapes and sizes. As a result, she created the 5 Body Element System which gives
women a road map to determine what clothes will enhance it.
Joy has remarried and lives with her second husband and her son in Roseville, California. When
not working she enjoys sewing, wine tasting with her husband, and gardening.
“The Secret of great style is to feel good
in what you wear.”
