To be able to perform “Hulas” with fluidity we need to harness this weightless moment that happens right at the top of the swing, when the body reaches maximum height.
We should always lead with the same leg as the direction of the Hula (if we want to do a right-sid- ed Hula then the movement should be initiated by the right leg, while a left-sided Hula should be initiated by the left leg). If we bring the trailing leg toward the leading leg as we initiate the rotation we would block the movement.
Right after the “Hula”, (in the negative phase of the movement) the leading leg and the trailing leg should lightly flex the hips when passes the rope’s vertical axis to avoid catching the rope. However, they should lightly extend the hips to can catch the rope.

Forced exhalation during the pull-up beat.
