11.1 → INTRODUCTION
The roll-up is a movement with a large number of variants, some of which we will
describe in the next chapters.
We have chosen this roll-up (regular/classic roll-up) for its fluidity, optimization of movement and greater versatility since with a good understanding of the technique involved in its execution, and once the skill is executed correctly, pro- gressing on to other variants (roll-up to back flag/side planche, with or without rope wraps around the waist, from an initial position of back flag/side planche, with the feet in the loops of the straps, with a single arm, in slow motion, etc.) will be easier.
However we have chosen not to describe the so-called “Russian technique”, (de- spite its similarities in optimizations of energies, rotations and ballistic move- ments) because we believe that this technique make the movement more ag- gressive and less fluid.
