Round turn: start with a turn (see page 181) of 360 degrees around the object, then take the end
around a second time. This is then a round turn. It is worth remembering that the number of round
turns taken is always one less than the number of sections of rope that you can see. Our illustration
shows a round turn on the left and three round turns on the right of the rail (figure 107).
Round turn and two half hitches: the most commonly used hitch, used to secure a line to a post.
Make a round turn (see page 138) and secure it with two half hitches (see page 91), which should be
worked snugly against each other (figure 108).
