Then twist these two bights once or twice outwards against their standing parts (figure 22.1), and slip
the bights over the hook (figure 22.2).
Chain plait or drummer’s plait: begin with an overhand knot, except that the lower part should be a
bight, not an end (figure 23.1). Thereafter it is purely a matter of creating a bight through a bight
(figure 23.2); to finish the plait, reeve the end through the last bight (figure 23.3).
