Newcomb Regional Welcome Center & Historical Museum

The Town of Newcomb was awarded $1,151,281.00 from the
NYS Regional Economic Development Council to design and con-
struct a community and historical center. At the Town Board
meeting, held on December 15, 2020, the Board unanimously
voted to retain the services of March Associates to provide con-

ceptual drawings of a single-story welcome center based upon
the DOS project description. Once approved by the Board, this
center is to be built on the southside of Route 28N on the loca-
tion of the old salt/sand storage lot. These drawings will be used
during a series of public meetings to be held in the spring of
2021, as we explain the project.

The location of the Old Finch Farm house was considered as a
possible location of this center, however; after much considera-
tion it was decided that since there was already parking area,
town water/sewer, power and fiber optic internet availability
on the south-side of Route 28N, this alternate location would be
a wiser choice. In addition to the availability of these amenities,
the Town recently acquired the old Community Bank , and will

be closing soon on the Old Log Cabin Episcopal Church. A peti-
tion signed by 165 Newcomb residents, was presented to the
Town Board ask it to “consider utilizing these structures” as we
continue to develop a town center at the Overlook area.
