To understand how long this project has been worked on, here is a
brief historical review beginning with the Town of Newcomb Compre-
hensive Plan of 2010, bringing us through a process which involved
many people, on several committees. It is with great hope that when
we begin our public informational meetings, our presentation will fo-
cus on the many community members who have participated over the
years preparing these plans, spending countless hours of devotion to
     this vision.

Town of Newcomb Comprehensive Plan 2010: “develop a town center”

Newcomb Smart Growth Hamlet Plan 2012-13: “historic welcome center”

The Newcomb Revitalization Action Plan 2015: “community welcome cen-
     ter…to support historical curation”
Consolidated Funding Application 2019: “Regional Welcome Center & Histor-
     ical Museum”

N.Y.S. Regional Economic Development Council 2019 Funding will al-
low the Town of Newcomb to implement the Newcomb Revitalization
Action Plan, funded by a previous EPF LWRP award, by finalizing de-

sign and construction of a “Community and Historical Center”. The
Center will include exhibits showcasing local industrial and cultural
heritage collections from the Newcomb Historical Museum, provide
educational activities, host community events, serve as a hub for out-
door recreational opportunities in the central Adirondacks, and attract

visitors to support businesses in the 5 Towns Upper Hudson River Rec-
     reation Hub.

Recently, the Newcomb Historical Museum received its provisional
charter from the NYS Board of Regents. This allowed the NHM (once
the Newcomb Historical Society) to qualify for tax exempt 501.C3 sta-
tus. The Town Board will be contracting with the NHM in the coming
months, with it Charter Board of Trustees.
