Ambience
Glossary
Ambience is used to translate the word Banyakard (บรรยากาศ). Ambience (banyakard) has two meanings. In dhamma practice, ambience refers to the state of the mind, especially the mind that is unburdened and expansive. But, in general usage, ambience means the surrounding atmosphere. We could even say that we should expand our ambience (our state of mind) to be as expansive as the ambience (surrounding atmosphere).
Attachment
Attachment is a translation of Upadana (อุปาทาน). This refers to any attachment to all natural conditions as well as attachments to the Five Aggregates (corporeality, sensations, perceptions, mental formations and conscious- ness).
Consequences
We use the word Consequences to translate the word Vipaka (วิบาก). Vipaka refers to the consequences from all of our deeds—physical, verbal and mental; negative and positive; from the present life and from our previous lives.
