The more we experience the present natural conditions, the stronger our mindfulness will be. The mind will become more stable. Experiencing the present natural conditions, experiencing minor bodily movements—these all help to contemplate mindfulness arising from principal natural conditions.
For example, when we do sitting meditation, the principal natural conditions emerge during our sitting. When we sit, we contemplate breathing, thoughts, and sensations. We open our eyes and change our posture from sitting to standing. As soon as we open our eyes, we have the mindfulness to experience. We slowly open our eyes, what is the phenomenon of opening our eyes? Once we have opened our eyes, we move our hands. We have the mindfulness to experience the phenomena of slowly shifting, slowly moving, slowly shifting our bodies. Have the mindfulness to be aware of natural conditions.
This is called “contemplation of minor bodily movements”. Whether we are about to get up, about to shift, about to turn left/turn right, we should have the mindfulness to be aware. Then, our mindfulness will be present like a continuous chain. Then, we stand up, after we stand up, we move our foot to walk; we walk to do our business, we walk to alter our movements. Have the mindfulness to be aware of the movements; the raising of the foot, the moving of the foot forward, the stepping down of the foot.
