Here are some helpful reminders to assist you in navigating the roads within the Village this winter:
1. If an emergency occurs, please call 911. If warranted, Castle Pines Emergency Services or the Douglas County Sheriff ’s Office will contact snow removal crews and District equipment will be detoured to provide an escort to a specific residence.
2. The District strives to clear all roads of snow as quickly as possible. However, due to the individual variabilities (intensity, duration, temperature, etc.) of each snowstorm, we cannot guarantee that your road will be cleared by a certain time after every snowstorm.
3. Remember that roads are plowed based on a priority system in order to provide access to the majority of the Village as quickly as possible. During heavy storms, snow from Priority 3 roads may not be plowed until the following day. Plowing operations on Priority 3 roads will not commence until all plowing on Priority 1 and Priority 2 roads has been completed.
4. Be patient and be sure to give plow trucks plenty of space to operate. When approaching a snowplow truck from the rear, travel a minimum of 200 feet behind to allow for sanding operations and abrupt movements.
5. Remember that private roads, common driveways, or sub association roads are not maintained by the District for snow removal.
6. While we will do our utmost to clear the roadways, it is important to note that clearing driveways, including the windrows left by plows and the area around mailboxes, is the responsibility of each resident. We understand that this can be a strenuous task, but it is crucial for maintaining access to your property.
By working together as a community, everyone stays safe and the roads remain accessible. More information regarding snow removal can be found on the District’s website.
Landscape/Brush Removal
The District traditionally conducts a community-wide branch/brush collection in May and October each year. This pickup is limited to tree branches cut in 4-foot lengths with the branches removed. Pine needles, leaves or bagged debris are not accepted. Tree branches and limbs are to be stacked parallel to the road for easy collection, but NOT bundled. Removal of dead brush is an excellent way to help reduce fire hazards around the Village.
