When sizing a winch for your needs there are many
factors to consider. Obviously horizontal/vertical and
above/below deck considerations are high on the list.
Longevity and reliability are also paramount. That’s why
we love to sell Quick! We hate comebacks and there are
less with Quick than any other brand we have sold.
Another thing that can make a big difference to the
satisfaction you get from the product is how well it works
in the real world. Rate of retrieval makes up a large part
of that satisfaction.
You will note that we haven’t specified the speed of
rertrieval at working load for any of the winches. There
is good reason for that. A number of things will affect the
performance. The weight and resistance of the ground
tackle, the depth of water, the battery voltage, the quality
of the electrical connections and the amount of voltage
drop through the cables will all affect performance.
Instead we have listed the maximum available chain
speed. This figure will give you the truest comparison
between the models.
For nominal purposes expect to get a retrieve speed
better than half the maximum, in ‘normal’ conditions. You
may well do much better than that.
Regardless, it's to your benefit to ensure the installation
is the best it can possibly be. Don’t hesitate to ask any
