FAMILY
Family can support each other to cope through this stressful time.
Here are a couple of things that you can do:
• Check-in with more distant family members regularly. Use FaceTime, Google Hangouts, Zoom,
WhatsApp or other tools to visibly connect.
• Host virtual activities when possible, such as, lunch, games and services.
• Seek spiritual help or professional counseling for support of family members who appear to
not be coping.
• Observe changes in your children’s behaviors (see The National Child Traumatic Stress Network
Guide, page 28).
• Provide home schooling routines for kids (See Tips + Resources for Parents Teaching their
Kids from Home, page 33).
• Have a list of resources and emergency contacts, to include teachers, local public health
department, family, friends, neighbors, and other community resources.
• Pets can be a source of comfort, however during this time try to avoid having contact when sick.
