Black Isle



                                                                                                                                   Just north of Inverness, you
                                                                                                                                 will reach the Black Isle, which is
                                                                                                                                 surrounded on three sides by bodies
                                                                                                                                 of water. There is plenty to explore
                                                                                                                                 here, with farms, woodland, quaint
                                                                                                                                 villages, and a sandy beach.
                                                                                                                                   The Black Isle is considered the best
                                                                                                                                 place in the UK to spot bottlenose
                                                                                                                                 dolphins. Head to Chanonry Point
                                                                                                                                 to watch these beautiful aquatic
                                                                                                                                 mammals leap just metres from the
                                                                                                                                 water’s edge as they chase salmon
                                                                                                                                 upstream. In fact, there’s plenty
                                                                                                                                 of wildlife to see around the area,
                                                                                                                                 including otters, seals and deer.
                                                                                                                                   Natural highlights include the
                                                                                                                                 waterfalls of Fairy Glen and the caves
                                                                                                                                 on Rosemarkie Beach, while history
                                                                                                                                 buffs will love checking out the many
                                                                                                                                 castles, cairns, the cathedral and three
                                                                                                                                 museums!
