Black Isle
Just north of Inverness, you
will reach the Black Isle, which is
surrounded on three sides by bodies
of water. There is plenty to explore
here, with farms, woodland, quaint
villages, and a sandy beach.
The Black Isle is considered the best
place in the UK to spot bottlenose
dolphins. Head to Chanonry Point
to watch these beautiful aquatic
mammals leap just metres from the
water’s edge as they chase salmon
upstream. In fact, there’s plenty
of wildlife to see around the area,
including otters, seals and deer.
Natural highlights include the
waterfalls of Fairy Glen and the caves
on Rosemarkie Beach, while history
buffs will love checking out the many
castles, cairns, the cathedral and three
museums!
