Even on a continent as old as Europe,
Madrid’s preservation of its historic
neighbourhoods and streets is impressive.
A walk down any of the city’s main
boulevards, such as Paseo del Prado,
feels like you are strolling into one of
the works of Francisco Goya. This is no
mistake though, as this avenue centres
Madrid’s ‘Golden Triangle of Art’ – the Prado
Museum, Museo Nacional Centro de Arte
Reina Sofía, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza
National Museum. If you want to visit them
all, be sure to book ahead – lines are long,
and tickets book out quickly.
However, with just 48 hours, you may
only want to book one, and the choice for
most is obvious - Del Prado. This Spanish
national art museum is widely considered
one of the world’s finest collections of
European art, dating from the 12th century
to the early 20th. This Museum is a work of
