The Financial times suggested that the problems in the

auditing industry are endemic particularly where auditors
offer clients other services. But, breaking up the Big Four will

not solve the problems [Financial Times,7, 2019] Grant Thornton

and others have taken significant steps to avert further

problems. For example, KPMG and EY have changed their
bonus structures to reward audit quality. But not selling

services still has to be addressed. But the very fact that such

changes are being considered tells a story.
