Industry Analysis






               Sales Growth

               In 2016 gin sales in the U.K., reached £1bn whilst the

               number of distilleries had increased by 127% in five years to

               315 in total. In 2017 UK sales of gin reached, a record

               number of 51 million bottles of Gin, worth almost £1.4
               billion. For context, this meant London now had more

               distilleries than the whole of England had in 2010!


               By 2020 the global gin market was worth £11bn but was

               estimated to rise to £15.5bn by 2028 with Europe
               accounting for more than 50% of sales. (Ref 1, 2)


               Not only had the quality of gin production dramatically

               increased, but so had the quantity of producers be they

               distillers, rectifiers or blenders.




               Gin Trends


               A number of trends have underpinned the rise in the growth

               in demand for Gin namely:




                   •  increase in the popularity of gin cocktails in the global

                       gin industry.

                   •  premiumization driving the growth of the alcoholic
                       beverages industry across the globe.

                   •  The demand for premium cocktails is attributed to the

                       rise in the trend of mixed and crafted cocktails.
