If a company has sales of £300 million in a total market
valued at £1.5 billion it has a market share of (£300
million/£1.5 billion) 20%. If the market grows from £1.5
billion to £3 billion then, in order for the company to
maintain its 20% market share it must increase its sales by a
further £300 million to a total of £600 million.
