Importance of Industry Analysis
Industry analysis is used to assess markets and as such is
crucial because it allows a business to better understand
prevailing market conditions.
Knowledge of both demand and supply and, consequently,
financial returns associated with the industry is crucial for
any business whether existing or planning to enter the
industry, to plan for the future.
Analysis helps to identify which stage an industry is
currently in; whether it is still growing or whether it has
reached its saturation point.
Industry analysis is subjective and does not guarantee
success but, as with the corporate planning process, it
should help guard against gross errors of judgement.
