               These cases had the advantage of allowing specific situations or specific
               pieces of theory or tools of analysis to be addressed.

               The vignette case tended to be used at the earliest stage of the module
               and was often used to examine a specific piece of theory or specific
               diagnostic tool. The caselette put more meat on the bones and allowed a
               more focussed depth of analysis and tended to be used in the run up to
               the middle and latter part of the module. The traditional case study
               tended to be used for final assessment purposes.

               These short case studies, as Diagram 1 shows, are a collection of
               general case studies. However, other collections of themed case studies
               have been undertaken such as fraud cases, banking cases, and
               marketing cases.
