EpiPen – ‘The Sales Balloon – Pricked?’
For adults and children with allergies from bee stings to
food and the potential dangers of anaphylaxis, Mylan’s
(MYL) EpiPen can, in many cases, be a life saver. The first
modern epinephrine autoinjector, the EpiPen, was invented
in the mid-1970s and first approved for marketing by the
FDA in 1987. They are a simple and effective way to deliver a
single dose of the hormone epinephrine (more commonly
known as adrenaline) which is used to treat potentially life
threatening anaphylactic shocks. Moreover, allergy sufferers
often have several pens - one to keep at home, as well as
others at school or work, or in the car. They also expire after
12 months.
