Case Usage

The case was developed and used with both under

graduate and post graduate students (preferably at the

start to mid parts of the course). It is a case designed to

allow in-class work to be carried out and discussion to be

developed in general through applying theory to practice.

Case Rationale

This case study, Borussia Dortmund Bomb Plot, is a

teaching case providing some help and interpretation of

the information provided. It explores a complex situation

covering the vagaries of the external environment –

shorting share price through attempted murder of key

assets of the organisation – to the dismissal of the coach

for disagreeing with the team boss. Perhaps a question of

finance over welfare?
