QUIETER OPERATION
Operating at only 72 – 85 dBA, MECO's GII Centurbo™ Compressor is quiet.
You don't need acoustic walls or personal hearing protection. Because people
in adjoining spaces aren't affected, you can position your water room just about
anywhere, even right next to an office. Your water room works better and is
a better place to work.
WATER QUALITY
Non-condensable gasses, such as CO2 and oxygen, if allowed into the evaporator,
cause corrosion and blanket heat transfer surfaces, which reduces output and can
contribute to higher conductivity. The feed water deaerator strips most non-condensable
gasses prior to entry into the evaporator, thus maximizing efficiency and minimizing corrosion.
GREATER EFFICIENCY FOR A REDUCED FOOTPRINT
Sites would need an 8 stage multi-effect still to achieve the same energy efficiency

as a VC unit when producing WFI at volumes > 3m / hr. However, with floor space
in a clean utilities building typically coming at a premium, a VC has a significantly
smaller footprint than an 8 effect ME for the same output.
REDUCED PRETREATMENT REQUIREMENTS
When compared to multi effect distillation, the pre-treatment requirements for vapor compression
distillation are far simpler. Due to the lower operating temperature and pressure profiles of VC,
the units are more tolerable of impurities, thereby eliminating the need for RO filtration before the VC.
With RO's typically operating at 80% through put, this results in significant water,
energy & maintenance savings.
