demonstrate all the three core forms of tour-
ism highlighted in the context of developing
countries like ecotourism, beach tourism and
heritage/cultural tourism. This is a strong
incentive in itself and requires conservation of
tourism destinations. There are a number of
players involved in the management of
tourism destination—be it government or
private players. Sustainable measures require
to be adopted across all the players to ensure
its successful implementation as no single
stakeholder fully controls the planning and
development of sustainable tourism.
Marketing a place requires all the stakeholders
to work strategically towards the planning,
development of place competitiveness and
marketing and promotion of the same to the
target market. All the stakeholders need to be
involved in the sustainable management of the
destination and work as environmental
protectors while accommodating the welfare
and interest of the other stakeholders and the
environment.
Countries need to challenge the GDP (Gross
Domestic Product) model to measure the
