                                    coastal communities, stakeholders include

local residents and fisher people, as well as

members of other groups such as:

                                    • MPA management

                                    • Members of the local municipality

                                    • The tourism industry (tour operators, hotels,
                                    restaurants, etc.)

                                    • The fishing industry (local and non-local)

There are more than political advantages to be

gained by involving stakeholders. When a

                                    community has management responsibility,

feels involved, and understands the benefits

that will come to them from responsible MPA

                                    management and from sustainable tourism,

there is a good chance that they will use more

care in using the MPA‘s resources and in

                                    supporting responsible tourism practices. For

example, the quantity of fish and shellfish
