The Meaning of Prayer

In an outwardly prayer means "some sayings and deeds beginning with the

Takbeer and ending with a greeting, by which we serve God according to the

conditions which have been determined" (Sidi Gazalba: 88).

In essence, prayer is "dealing with heart, soul, and body to God, which brings

fear to him or to the worship of Allaah and our need to God whom we have

worshipped with word and deed" (Hasbi ash-Syidiqi: 59).
