Did You Know? Recently, The O Mahony Society received a kind message from friend of the Society,
Linda Robertson, who was researching her family tree. Her message included this:
THE O MAHONY SOCIETY I'm currently working on a family tree project to find out more about my roots. For

REACHES MORE THAN WE REALIZE! this project I'm exploring part of my family tree looking at my mother’s side and
learning more about my Greek heritage and the page: www.omahonysociety.com/
links had a lot of great information on researching genealogy and family history
that really helped me with this project.

As a thank you, while I was researching, I found another page that I want to pass
along to you: "Exploring Greece and Your Greek Heritage." If you like it, I was
thinking it would make a great addition to [your] links page. It has a lot of helpful
information on learning about Greek culture and the language. I would be thrilled
to know that I'm helping contribute to [your] website and helping people learn
                                                  more about Greek culture!
This led to an internet (aka, not exhaustive) search of the history of Irish immigration
into the Mediterranean. Granted, there is much information regarding the Flight
of the Earls and the Flight of the Wild Geese onto the European mainland, but we
cannot exclude the Irish immigrant presence into Europe, especially the Iberian
Peninsula. From there, did any Irish migrate eastward toward Greece?
It’s an interesting hypothesis. In the event O Mahony’s find Mediterranean or Greek
lines in their family trees, we are happy to add Ms. Robertson’s information to our
                                                  website! www.greekcitizenship.net/exploring-greece-and-your-greek-heritage/
