Certification Process
purpose of this audit is to document how the
company and its processes are in conformance
to the appropriate standard.
Nonconformities
During the audit, nonconformities may be
identified. The nonconformities are documented
and classified as fundamental, critical, major or
minor. A nonconformity is the failure to conform to
the requirements of the standard. Nonconformities
must be corrected, and appropriate corrective
action must be verified by the auditor, in the time
set by the standard.
Each standard defines nonconformities slightly
differently. Therefore, please see the applicable
standard for their definition.
Based upon the results of the Certification Audit, the
auditor will make a recommendation on whether to
certify the company, withhold certification until the
nonconformities have been resolved, or not certify
the company.
A technical reviewer at the certification body reviews
the auditor’s report and recommendations and
makes the final determination on certification.
