Eastern Section, Irish Rail Central Traffic Control Centre visit, Thursday 14 June
The Eastern Section were delighted to be given a tour to Irish Rail’s Central Traffic Control (CTC) Centre, based in Dublin’s Connolly Station.
CTC is an extremely important operation, which ensures the daily safe running of trains, via management of network signalling, driver radio communications, and incident management The Connolly facility controls the Core National Rail Network
Attendees were welcomed and received a full briefing from Darren Bowe, who manages the CTC Centre Darren spoke about the current function of the centre and the future of signalling and traffic control, which will benefit from major investment and a move to a new purpose-built facility at Heuston Station over the next five years The attendees were then brought to the ‘live’ rail control rooms and engaged with core members of the operational team whose main roles are to keep the national rail network active and safe CILT Ireland Eastern Section thanks Irish Rail for facilitating, this informative and interesting event
