Module 1: Scola Brevis and
Reviews
Overview:
Module 1 is a review of preliminary topics – functions and graphs.
Module Learning Outcomes
At the end of the module, the students are expected to:
1. demonstrate understanding of functions and their graphs.
Lesson 1. Review of Functions and Graphs
Overview of the Lesson:
Lesson 1 focuses on the basic concept of functions and their graphs. The concept of functions plays
an integral part in most of the important topics in Calculus. It is extensively used to formalize and
characterize the definition of limits derivatives and antiderivatives. Because this topic has been
already taught to students in their secondary level a quick review of some of its important concepts
will be the main goal of this lesson.
Detailed Learning Outcomes :
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
1. discuss the definition of a function; 4. perform operations on functions, and
2. give situational example functions; 5. solve application problems of functions.
3. draw a sketch of graphs of functions;
Metaphorical Questions:
Direction: Answer the following questions as clear as possible.
