To explore expansion of its rapidly growing programs, Southern
PROJECT TYPE Illinois University Edwardsville turned to FGM Architects to guide
Addition
them through the design of an addition on the north side of its
existing Engineering Building. Since the site proved challenging,
the FGM Architects team identified site utility relocations and site
drainage requirements as major components of the construction
budget. The plaza that will accommodate this water retention,
also will provide an outdoor gathering and seating area for the
campus community.
ENGINEERING BUILDING INTERIOR BUILD-OUT
The build-out of the first floor space was financed through
fundraising efforts at the University. FGMA developed
3D renderings to help the university secure funding. The
project includes a flexible student design lab, faculty offices
and executive conference room. The design lab promotes
collaboration among students.
