Terms & abbreviations
The following pattern uses US terminology
mc - Magic circle
fr - Foundation ring
ch - chain
sc - single crochet
dc - double crochet
st - stitch
sl st - slip stitch
rep - repeat
Materials – 12ply yarn, H/5mm hook, scissors, tapestry needle & a
jar.
There are lots of fabulous tutorials on YouTube for anything you are
unsure of.
Foundation – MC or FR of CH3
BASE
Row 1. ch 1 (*this does not count as a st) 6 sc into the ring, pull mc
closed & SL ST into 1st sc. (be sure not to sl st into ch, if unsure, count
back 6 st from hook)
Row 2. ch 1 (*) 2 sc in each st (starting at the st you sl st & ch1 into),
sl st closed to 1st sc (12 st total)
(It is really important to count at the end of each row. Better to pull
back one row, than the whole piece)
Row 3. ch 1 (*) 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in next, repeat, sl st closed (18)
Row 4. ch 1 (*) 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in next 2 sts, rep, sl st closed
(24)
Row 5. ch 1 (*) 2sc in 1st st, 1 sc in next 3 sts, rep, sl st closed (30)
Row 6. ch 1 (*) 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in next 4 sts, rep, sl st closed
(36)
SIDE
Row 1. ch 1 (*) sc into the back loop only of each st, sl st closed
(36)
Row 2. ch 2 (*) 1 dc into 1st st, 1 ch, skip 1, dc into next, rep, sl st
closed (18dc, 18ch spaces)
Row 3. ch 1 (*) 1 sc into 1st st, ch 10, skip 1dc & 1 sc into next, rep sl
st closed (9 loops)
Yarn off leaving a long tail (you can always sl to the top of loops, but
I find this gives a more even finish)
Reattach yarn with a standing sc (leaving a long tail)
Row 4. ch 5, 1 sc into top of next loop, rep, sl st closed (9 5ch spaces)
Yarn off leaving long tail.
Reattatch yarn with a standing sc (leaving long tail)
Row 5. ch 40, skip 2 5ch sp, sc 1, rep, sl st closed. Yarn off (long tail)
(3 loops)
Tie all ends & weave to base using needle, not forgetting foundation.
Ch 100, thread through 3 loops of row 5, join, yarn of & tie.
Place join under top of loops & secure with a firm knot Pic 7, tuck in
ends.
If you know how to crochet, this project can be done in under an
hour.
Happy Creating
