Let us introduce you to

Vanessa Imberger
Creating homewares and accessories made from

Free to Fall produces a range of

hand screen-printed textiles. Based in
the Yarra Valley, Free to Fall was
founded by Vanessa Imberger in 2018
and is a culmination of her creative life’s
work.

With
Vanessa With a background in graphic design,
Vanessa began screen-printing to

explore a more tactile approach to
making. The methodical nature of
Imberger printing and the joy of creating beautiful

objects by hand remained an important
part of her personal art making, as she
took an alternate career path into art
education in secondary schools.

Many years later Vanessa’s creative

drive to further her screen-printing
practice was ever present. Upon
moving to Healesville, the opportunity
arose to create a studio in an old shed
on her property and the creation of Free
to Fall began. Vanessa applies her love
of colour, texture and pattern to her
design process. Taking inspiration from
her surroundings, she draws on
patterns and repetition found in
everyday objects to create bold and

dynamic designs. Drawing her artworks
by hand and transferring them to silk
screens, Vanessa hand-prints fabric
lengths in her studio, which are then
sewn by a Melbourne based
seamstress.

educational stream to her business,

offering screen-printing workshops in
her studio and incursions in schools
