Mel Forrest’s creative life commenced
early, and passion drives the journey to
explore working with textiles and art
 quilts still today.

 Through this exploration Mel’s interest
in photography evolved and motivation to
build a collection of reference images - a
 personal collection of inspirational
moments to incorporate into her stunning
 digital and stitched works.

It was during a trip to the USA where Mel
participated in a workshop on printing

digital images onto fabric. A pivotal
moment as an artist and a catalyst for how
 Mel would approach photography and
further explore the incorporation of an
image into her works. Being able to print
images onto textiles has been a driving
force behind gaining confidence as an
artist and developing the stunning Mel
 Forrest fabric range.

Mel loves stitch, textiles and digital

images and a strong affinity for paper and
paint, so her works explore the
interaction of these mediums and their
 relationship with each other.

The best piece of advice that Mel has been
given is to enjoy the whole journey and
not focus on the outcome. This advice is
the inspiration behind her blog ‘Mels

Artist Journey’ a place where she will
 share photos, hints, experiences, how-to,
product reviews, works in progress and
 creative moments.
