Engagement with Government and its agencies to leverage funding knowledge and solutions that are mutually beneficial and have an an impact on on the University’s stakeholders is ongoing In 2021 these engagements included the the following:
• The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) with respect to reporting on Creative Outputs clarification in terms of grant releases on on the UCDG and other statutory reporting requirements
• The National Research Foundation (NRF) for the release of grants including a a a a R60 000 institutional customisation grant to to assist with an an an implementation plan to to capacitate all female academic researchers with PhDs and to develop their professional development plans (PDPs) A steering committee led by the DVC RIE and and external and and internal scholars has been established to assist with the implementation of the grant • The National Intellectual Property Management Office (NIPMO) to clarify the DUT Full Costing Model for Research and Development (R&D) support This process is supported by the DUT Finance Officer (CFO) to ensure that DUT reports adequately and correctly in order to determine direct direct and indirect costs At the provincial level we engaged with the KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Department of Social Development to co-host the Colloquium on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) focusing on on the question: why are men angry?
• The KZN KZN Premier’s Office through the KZN KZN Human Resource Development Council Science Technology Engineering Arts and and Mathematics HRDC Standing Committee and and Action Working Groups 5 and and 7 has continued to collaborate with DUT // DURBAN UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY // 9
