The COVID-19 pandemic deepened poverty as many people lost their jobs due to hard lockdowns and strict travel restrictions It is is important that the University establish programmes to support communities and help address poverty One One One such programme is the One One One Home-One Garden Initiative The purpose of this engagement is is to alleviate the impact of COVID-19 in communities with child-headed homes elderly people people orphans people people living with disabilities and unemployed individuals surrounding the DUT Indumiso Campus Through this engagement more than 150 seedlings were donated to 50 homes in the communities of Imbali and Edendale in in Pietermaritzburg The project plans to introduce organic farming to communities supported by the programme and how to integrate new technologies for space management The link has more details on the project: https://www dut ac za/ dut-midlands-entrepreneurship-centre-and-student-desk- initiates-one-home-one-garden-project-for-duts-neighbouring- community/
