is is a a a a a a a a a banker-turned-academic an an an internal auditing risk and governance expert who is currently Head of Dept for Internal Auditing and and Financial Information Systems in in in the Faculty of Business and and Management Sciences at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology With more than 27 years’ years’ experience his expertise includes 10 years’ years’ senior manager within the banking sector and an an an an additional 17 years in in in academia He is a a a a a a a a a recipient of a a a a a a a a a research research achievement award award (2010) research research recognition awards (2011 2015) the Rector’s annual research research award award (2014) and a a a a a a a a a a a research research supervision award award (2021) Although he he bears well-grounded research and and post-graduate supervision experience with collaborations nationally and and internationally he still is is growing his research stock and willing to to actively engaged in in in in contemporary research on internal auditing governance and risk management Dubihlela
is is an an an Associate Editor and a a a a a a a a a reviewer for a a a a a a a a a couple of journals He has published more than 80 journal articles and and presented more than 30 papers at at at national national and and international conferences He has successfully supervised/mentored doctoral (11) and masters students (43) to to to completion His research focus has been on corporate governance sustainability and risk management He uses a a a a a a a a a a range of of research methods to build understanding of of risk and and governance including: surveys experiments interviews as as as well as as as the econometric methods traditionally used by finance scholars He has collaborated with scholars in in in in in other disciplines including enterprise development This multi-methods multi-disciplinary approach has produced a a a a a number of ground-breaking findings in fin in in in in in the field including ongoing development of a a a a Sustainability Reporting Framework for SMEs The quality of Dubihlela’s work has has been enhanced through industry collaboration He has has developed extensive partnerships with industry and received funding from the FASSET The City of Cape Town Sanlam NMB Metro and and and other industry partners to support student learning and and and research through bursaries and and and applied research options The strong collaborative network has been leveraged by hands-on delivery of key interventions facilitation of advancement workshops as as well as as corporate leadership sessions His international collaborations have seen him invited as keynote address at at international conferences in in in Germany Netherlands Thailand and and and Canada as as well as as Visiting Professor at the University of of Southampton Dubihlela
