The Men Carve project is committed to fostering positive attitudes and behaviours toward women, girls, and marginalized groups. This initiative focuses on reducing the misuse of power by men, with the goal of creating safer environments where women are respected and valued. The project aligns directly with DUT’s ENVISION2030 by embodying the university’s commitment to social justice, respect, and equity. By promoting healthy manhood and addressing Gender- Based Violence (GBV), the project supports the university’s mission to cultivate a culture of shared responsibility, safety, and mutual respect, central to the institution’s DNA.
IMPACT AND SUSTAINABILITY
The project aims to prevent sexual assault, harassment, and violence, fostering a culture of respect and equity within communities and
universities. It promotes healthy relationships, reduces instances of GBV, and creates safer environments for all. Sustainability is ensured through strong partnerships with institutions like UKZN, community leaders, and local ward counsellors. Ongoing programmes to mentor boys and girls embed these values deeply within communities, ensuring lasting change.
