  Mr Joseph Akpan
Department of Industrial Engineering
Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment
Joseph S. Akpan received the B.Eng. Hons. degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Uyo, Nigeria, in 2017.
                            He is currently pursuing the M.Eng. degree Industrial Engineering at the Durban University of Technology, South Africa, and also an Erasmus+ Exchange mobility student and research intern at University ofValladolid, Spain. Prior to joining DUT, he was an Engineering Graduate Intern at Exxon Mobil, Nigeria where he later became a Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP). His research interests revolve around reliability engineering and asset management assessment: dynamic modelling, simulation
and improvements in environmental and engineering systems; waste-2-wealth; energy efficiency process, and resiliency in the built environment.
Joseph’s recent awards include the Best Paper Award at 14th IEEE ICMIMT Cape Town, 5th European Conference IEOM-Rome Best Student Paper Award (3rd position). He is a graduate student member with SMRP, IEEE as well as the Vice President of IEOM-DUT.
