KWAZULU-NATAL FILM COMMISSION
The research and surveys conducted by the Business Unit play a key role in informing the entity’s strategic direction and plans. The recommendations of the completed studies were tracked and reported on a quarterly basis by the Managers who were responsible for implementing them.
Monitoring and Evaluation
There were four (4) planned Monitoring and Evaluation assessments planned for the financial year. Six (6) assessments were concluded and finalised. This was due to the need to assess the impact of our different programmes. The six finalised assessments were the following:
• The FITI programme Year 1
• The impact of the NQF level 4 Learnerships
• The assessment of the NQF Level 4 Film and TV
Production programme in Mbazwana
• The assessment of of the Locations Scout Skills
programme in the Ugu District
• Impact of the Locations and Facilities MOUs
• The evaluation of SED projects funded
Risks Management
The Strategic and Operational Risk registers were prepared and updated quarterly. Quarterly the reports were presented to the Audit and Risk Committee and to the Board for approval and appraisal. Quarterly Manco and Exco reviewed the risks, to identify the emerging risks that could be added to the registers for monitoring.
Socio-Economic Development (SED)
In 2023/24, KZNFilm implemented a Socio-Economic Development project to support an Art Centre in Mbazwana, under the uMkhanyakude District Municipality. As part of this initiative, KZNFilm donated R 261,700.00 to the Mbazwana Creative Arts. This fund was used to purchase the necessary equipment and chairs for the Art centre.
