The Cluster
The Cluster is situated on the 10th and 11th floor of the KZNFilm offices. The KZNFilm Facilities and Locations Unit is charged with managing the Cluster (rentals) which constitutes the KZNFilm facilities and venues such as office spaces, an edit suite, a sound studio, a 42-seater Cinema and a training room. The KZNFilm cluster is home to a number of tenants who play a vital role in the film industry, by providing varying affordable rental rates and ensuring they run professional businesses.
The KZNFilm Cluster is home to eight (8) companies. These companies vary from production houses, photography, and legal services to Animation Hub. All the current leases will expire in December 2024, which is in line with KZNFilm’s current lease agreement with SA Retail Properties. The space which is still available for rental is the sound studio fully equipped for post- production; an Edit suite with final cut 10 and premier pro; a 42-seater cinema for all screenings, a 60-seater training room, and some office spaces. All at discounted rates.
A facilities rates card has been developed and updated through conducting market research on facilities letting companies. This is to gauge the industry trends. Rates obtained from that market research have been used to benchmark KZNFILM rates in a manner that it becomes the cheapest amongst the industry rates. Once the market research is done, Provincial Treasury signs off the rates to ensure due diligence is done in terms of showcasing support to the KZNFilm Industry.

The tours are tailored to meet the needs of each company, based on their script requirements for locations, architecture, and landscapes.
