A typical day in Siphuxolo’s life involves conceptualising tourism marketing strategies, attending stakeholder events, cross-fit training, and working on her studies. In her numerous roles as Marketing and Tourism Manager, life coach, and public speaker, she manages her responsibilities through prioritisation and goal- setting. Her commitment to excellence and service drives her success.
In previous years, during her tenure at SANBI (South African National Biodiversity Institute), Siphuxolo was part of the team that represented South Africa at the Chelsea Flower Show, in London, showcasing South Africa’s biodiversity to the world. Speaking of this year’s well-publicised win at Chelsea, Siphuxolo said, “Africa has authentic natural and cultural beauty and through exhibits like the Chelsea flower show we are able to tell our story and invite the world to visit South Africa and indulge in our natural and cultural diversity. I felt very proud because we continuously brand South Africa remarkably on global stages.”
Siphuxolo’s recent career highlights include being a speaker on Sustainable Tourism Development at a UNESCO conference titled “Cultural Heritage in the 21st Century” held in Naples, Italy, in November 2023. Additionally, Siphuxolo participated as a member of the UNESCO panel of experts at a best practice explorations seminar on visitor and stakeholder management for the Royal Commission of AlUla in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in February 2024.
The theme of the “Power of Connection” resonates deeply with her. She believes that connections extend beyond people to the greater good. Her long-term goal is to create training platforms and programmes for disadvantaged youth, emphasising the importance of education and intentional living. She supports youth development through mentoring and community service, embodying the spirit of ubuntu.
Travel, she asserts, broadens perspectives and fosters global unity. Her involvement with DUT’s alumni network keeps her connected to ties in KZN, reinforcing her sense of community. Siphuxolo aspires to serve within the United Nations, promoting Africa’s development. Her advice to today’s youth is to have clear goals, work hard, and treat others with respect, as people are essential in life’s journey. Siphuxolo’s life motto, “Never get too comfortable”, drives this dynamic woman continually to seek growth and challenge. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, speaking at seminars, and mentoring. Whether relaxing with a good book or dancing, she lives a balanced and fulfilling life, committed to inspiring and uplifting others.
