What is your name, job title and department?
Christine Fisk, Customer Information Systems Administrator – Customer Operations
How long have you been with the BWL?
From Jan. 2000 – Jan. 2014; and again from Sept. 2020 – present. Total combined is 14 years.
How has the BWL changed since you started?
When I first started at the BWL, there were still some billing processes that were hand calculated on a 10-key and handwritten on ledger cards. There was a cart you had to roll from one cube to another for each Customer Billing Rep to process according to the schedule on the calendar. Groupwise was our email system and if you were also
a customer, you could have your bill deducted out of your paycheck. You could also walk up to the remittance window for employees to pay your bill, cash a personal check or request a paycheck advance.
What does a day on the job look like for you?
Currently, I walk downstairs from my bedroom to my dining room where I have my office set up in computer armoire.
I have been working on the

on the Customer Information System migration project which will eventually retire our mainframe CIS system. I spend my entire day with my nose buried in the computer screen working with people who are all over the world. The time zones of the people I work with spans from California to India with many in between. Coordinating meetings to accommodate
the different work schedules can be a challenge. Planning your day and knowing which resources are available and when can be frustrating, but overall it has been a very rewarding experience.
What’s the most challenging part about your job? Disconnecting at the end of the workday. When you’re working from home, it’s easy to think about all the other things that need to get done and your workstation is right there. My daughter sometimes has had to pull me away so that I don’t end up spending all evening working past hours.
What’s the best part of your job?
I love working with people from all over the world. I missed the opportunity to work with them in person, but I’ve still been able to meet some incredible people.
What led you to this job at BWL?
Bob Perialas calling me and asking if I would be interested in applying for this new position.
What’s something most people may not know about you?
I am also a professional voice over actor. My most recent project includes the customer tutorial videos produced for the BWL’s new eServices.
What do you consider your greatest accomplishment or achievement?
I’m not done yet. The best is yet to come. But if you mean to date, it would be giving birth to one amazing human being who is now 16 years old.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
What you do for a living doesn’t matter, so long as you are happy doing it.
Describe yourself in three words.
Valencia’s YOUNGER sister.
