Making wax-friendly

          collage papers on

          black paper and on

          white paper

Wax & Words presents a unique approach to creating
encaustic collage materials and compositions because all of the
media used are “beeswax friendly.” Unlike acrylic-based media,
W&W components are chosen to absorb the wax layers.

IMPORTANT POINT: It’s impossible to mess up any of these
collage sheets that you are making.

          Why?
Well, if you love the way the sheet came out, you can continue
on, and wax it as a stand-along finished composition.
If you don’t like the way it came out, you can tear it into
interesting sections to combine with other black and white
collage papers to create a new composition.

SECOND IMPORTANT POINT: So what’s the deal with
only black and white and neutrals in these collages? What
          happened to color?

I have found that when we work with basics such as composition
in collage, it’s helpful to keep the concepts simple. Throw color
theory into the mix, and it’s pretty overwhelming. So give it a try Remember, any of these wax-friendly combinations of collage papers can
with the neutrals, concentrate on the process, and then later on be used “as is” for a finished collage study, or can be torn into pieces and
add color to your heart’s content! added to a new work for Wax & Words collages.
