A little more about Tsukineko Walnut TIPS FROM THE PART ONE
ink VIDEO:
• Test the walnut ink color on the back
of your clay first
• Don’t be afraid to layer different colors
of ink
• Spit has an enzyme that helps remove
the ink from the highlights (I know -

• You can also use Handy Wipes to
remove the ink from the raised areas.
• Sanding is optional
Everybody knows that I love this stuff - it’s safe and organic, Part One
made from real walnut shells, and is sooooo versatile on
paper and clay. You saw in the video how nicely it defines quote - “Let
the unglazed face shard pieces for the talisman. your clay face
inform you of
The four basic colors are: what theme it
would like to
• Java-a greenish black have and what
• Eucalyptus - a luscious gray green
• Terra Cotta - a red sienna brown it would like to
• Walnut - a natural cool brown be . . . .”
It is sometimes difficult to find on the shelves in craft
stores. I order mine from Imagine Crafts. Amazon usually
carries it as well. It can stain clothing and skin but it’s so
cool, who cares?? Scroll down to the next page to see the Part Two video
(Incidentally, Wikipedia says the stuff was used to stain the hands of
criminals back in old Rome because it wouldn’t wash off . . .)
