SAFEGUARD
Safeguard: something that serves as a protection or defense
or that ensures safety. This has been an insurmountable
global concern, particularly these past couple of years.
In seeking to address my own understanding of what safe-
guard and sanctuary look like in an uncertain world, I turn my
attention to the seemingly inhospitable desert where I live
and try to capture her fragile strength as I listen to what mes-
sages she may have for me.
These images are transformed with chemistry on to natural
fiber papers where I add handwork with stitching, writing, em-
bellishments, or organic pigments – a working meditation as I
contemplate navigating my world as it is.
