It could have been "that championship season” if only , , , Certainly the record didn't show the talent of the team, "We lost a lot of games that we shouldn’t have” commented Center fielder Shannon Curley, The Spring season oftheJV Bat men was disappointing. In spite of late season losses, several important players surfaced as proof that the team had promise; outfielders Ken Sharkey, Shannon Curley and Paul O’Leary led the squad in hits. Eighth Graders David Krause and Pat Conole delivered super on field performances.
The highlight of the season came in the home game against Auburn when Bob Walsh knocked off a fourth inning triple to produce an exciting 4-2 win. At season’s end, hopes were high that the true merit of the team would be proven in the spring.
