-Tennis team tallies triumphs-
"Impressive" is the only word that can describe the Brother's Tennis Team and the 1981 season was no exception. Under the direction of Coach Gary Barnaba, they kept up the winning tradition by defeating all their Cities League foes to take the title for the sixth consecutive year. They placed second in the sectionals and for the fifth season in a row, were represented in state finals. Their success was recognized further than the local level when they were placed ninth in the state at the end of the year.
SeniorJimmy Vlassis, who held the first singles position, went undea- feated in League play and advanced to the sectionals finals. Eric Wein- heimer won the sectionals for the second singles spot and qualified for the State Competition. The excellent playing of senior Steve Bersani was a driving force behind the Brother’s success. The first doubles team of Dee Hale and John Sammis was victorious in the Cities League Title and also qualified for the sectional finals. Junior Mike Geiss and sophomore Mark Lestrange created the depth that was needed for victory.
With the loss of five seniors, the CBA tennis team will have to rebuild in order to maintain the winning combination. But as they have proved in the past, victory comes naturally for the Brothers.
