He was dressed in a Brothers' football jersey, an oversize ten gallon hat and a pair ofsunglasses large enough to put EltonJohn to shame. No, he wasn’t performing for the morning broadcast of Sesame Street, He was Student Senator, Mark Procopio, and his job was to get the crowd excited for the opening CBA football game.
The regular pep rallies sponsored by the Student Senate was just one example of the involvement of that organization in the day-to- day functioning of CBA. "Our goal”, said Senate President Michael Geiss, "was to increase school spirit and student participation." Certainly the pep rallies, promotion of school rock concerts, the addition of another mural to the gym wall and a Senate sponsored ski trip to Labrador seemed to do just that.
Under the guidance of Moderator Mr. Martin Manning and Committee Chairmen Michael Moorshead, Fred Grunewald, Steve Mahana, Tom Dwyer, and Brian Tait, the Senate became actively involved in the planning and execution of Freshmen and Middle School Orientation as well as the annual Fall Field Days. It became clear by year’s end that the Executive Committee which included Dominick Adornato, Tom Croston, and Steve Corapi could look back on a job well done.
