— JV cagers ----
come up short
Varsity moveups resulted in some key losses for the JV Hoop group as they sought to meet pre season expectations. Coach John Wleklinski had high hopes for the squad as an early season win against rival Bishop Ludden brought the taste of victory home.
While a series of disappointing losses dampened the hopes of the CBA Cagers, fine performances by center Bill Snow and guards Rodney Thomas and Lorenzo Jackson helped to spark their sea sonal play.
Perhaps the high point of league competition occurred in the overtime win against Notting ham where the JV squad was able to gain a narrow score of 49-46. With the help of returning forward Paul O’Leary, the team showed a strong performance against one of the league’s stronger teams.
While disappointment characterized the season, the key element for any JV squad is the exper ience it gains as it prepares for varsity competi tion.
